I admit I was a little late to the West Wing party. I wasn't in any hurry to see another left wing portrayal of the evil Republicans who's only desires were to kill children, run over bunnies, and pull the walkers out from under grandmothers. I really didn't want to watch one where the saviors of the day were the all wise, enlightened, and selfless Democrats. I especially didn't want to see such a cliche written by a coke fiend.
Over time the West Wing won me over. The Democrats portrayed on the show were true believers who actually fought for ideas and tired to overcome their own humanity to do what was right. The Republicans were still pretty stereotypical, but towards the end of the show were almost human - especially when Alan Alda ran for office. And so what if Sorkin was a fiend? Let ye without power on your nose cast the first rolled up dollar bill.
Then the conspiracy was set into motion. Once West Wing became one of the three shows I watched religiously, (ER and CSI the other two) NBC moved the show to Sunday nights. I work Sunday nights and was unable to watch. After several months and a great deal of hassle, I found a friend who would tape the shows for me only to have NBC use the nuclear option - They canceled the show. I'm sure Hillary is behind it all somehow, and that Elvis and UFOs are involved, but I just have yet to figure out how.
I guess I'll have to check out Joey.
