Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) recently compared the United States military to Nazis, Khmer Rouge, and Joseph Stalin. If this is true, we have spent billions of dollars to produce the most disappointing military that has ever walked the planet earth.
Let's look at the benchmarks -
Hitler and the Nazis conquered Europe, nearly defeated England, killed 6 millions Jews, killed millions more civilians and performed medical experiments on children. These guys were bad men.
Within weeks of American forces fleeing Vietnam the dominos began to fall and Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge had taken control of Cambodia, Laos, and all of Vietnam killing hundreds of thousands of their own citizens and providing enough bodies to fill the killing fields of Southeast Asia. These guys were bad men. Joseph Stalin is the Babe Ruth of mass murderers. Stalin killed and estimated 20 million of his own people and managed to remain in power. Surely, his record will never be eclipsed.
Our United States military is the most well funded and best equipped army ever assembled on a battle field. During the war on terror we have dropped a bit over $310 BILLION. What did we get for our investment? Have our soldiers left millions of dead and maimed in their wake - NO! Any tortuously painful medical experiments – NO! Have we fertilized the dessert of Iraq with pits filled with civilian bodies – NO! What's the most vicious act our multibillion dollar Army can come up with? We force our prisoners to listen to Christina Aguilar. We mess with the thermostat. And when we really want to get nasty we ruffle their Qu' ran. OOOOOOOOH!
Senator Durbin should immediately start an investigation as to where the money has gone, and why our men and women in uniform are such wimps. We have a reputation to uphold. In less than 200 years we cleared an entire continent of its occupants and did so with massacres, trails of tears, death and mayhem. Those were the days.
Thanks to Senator Durbin's comparison, we now know that our armed forces are vastly over paid and under performing. Though many have tried to claim that our uniformed men and women are nothing like the brutal mad men to which Durbin has alluded, we know that they are every bit as evil as Hitler and Pot, and we know that with hard work they might even one day top the Babe of Brutality - Stalin.
